Shadow Ministry Announcement

Consumer Healthcare Products Australia today welcomed the announcement by Leader of the Australian Labor Party, the Hon Anthony Albanese MP, that the Hon Chris Bowen MP will become Shadow Minister for Health.

“We congratulate Chris Bowen on his appointment to this very important role and will be seeking an appointment with him as soon as possible to discuss the issues facing the consumer healthcare products industry,” said CHP Australia CEO, Dr Deon Schoombie.

“Improving health literacy, growing the industry and increasing access to medicines where appropriate, as well as advancing consumer health through responsible Self Care, remain our priorities and were points we raised with the ALP during the election campaign.”

“We are keen to ensure that promises made by the ALP during the election campaign, such as tasking the TGA to investigate ways to improve and increase access to the oral contraceptive pill, remain policy.”

CHP Australia also paid tribute to the tireless dedication over the past five years of the outgoing Shadow Minister, the Hon Catherine King MP, and Shadow Assistant Minister for Medicare, Mr Tony Zappia MP.

“Catherine King’s tireless dedication to the role and deep understanding of the health landscape will be missed and we wish her all the best in her new role as Shadow Minister for Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Development.”

“We thank Catherine and Tony for their continued engagement and dialogue with the consumer healthcare products industry over the past few years.”
