Membership Benefits

Advocacy and Representation

The close collaboration between the Secretariat, the Members and other stakeholders is what drives our advocacy through conversations, meetings, targeted consultations and public consultations. We provide an authoritative voice for the consumer healthcare products industry in various forums and in Federal and State Parliaments. For example we represent and advocate for members on numerous multi-stakeholder groups, including the following:

  • TGA Medicines Shortages Working Group
  • Department of Industry Supply Chain Roundtable
  • Department of Industry Hand Sanitiser Roundtable and its four working groups.
  • NSW Poisons Advisory Committee (PAC)
  • Advisory Committee on Medicines Scheduling (ACMS)
  • Therapeutic Goods Adverting Consultative Committee (TGACC)
  • TGA Complementary and OTC Medicines Regulatory and Technical Consultative Forum (ComTech)
  • Therapeutic Consultative Committee (TCC)
  • Therapeutic Industry Forum (TIF)
  • TGA-Industry Working Group on Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) (TIWGG)

Industry Level Decision Making

Members of CHP Australia have access to industry decision making through our internal subcommittees, working groups and teams which cover regulatory, advertising, and marketing & ethics issues. The work of these groups contributes to policy, regulatory change and positioning. Other outcomes from this work include training and development programs, events and industry awards.

Timely Advice and Information

The CHP Australia team provides free consultation and advice for Members (within reasonable limits) on regulatory, advertising and scientific matters.

Members receive regular newsletters containing industry news and regulatory & scientific information from around the world. When important developments occur, CHP Australia alerts members and keeps them updated as the issue progresses. The Members-only area of the website contains a wealth of regulatory, industry and marketing information.

Networking

CHP Australia Members meet their peers, suppliers and service organisations at events throughout the year. The CHP Australia Gala Dinner & Industry Awards is a highlight of the event calendar and is well-attended by the consumer healthcare products industry. Breakfast and Afternoon Seminars provide an opportunity to meet key figures, including politicians and regulators, while learning about topical issues facing the industry.

CHP Australia has three categories of Membership:

Ordinary Membership is held by manufacturers and sponsors of consumer healthcare products, which includes non-prescription medicine ("over-the-counter" (OTC) and complementary). An Ordinary Member's annual subscription (membership) fee is calculated from annual turnover in appropriate product categories. Click here to view brochure. Click here for application form.

Associate Membership is held by agencies, firms, consultancies and companies that supply goods or services to our Ordinary Membership. Though Associates are not voting members, they do enjoy most of the other benefits of CHP AustraliaI membership and sit on subcommittees and teams. The Associate Membership subscription fee is now based on the number of employees in your company. Click here to view brochure. Click here for application form.

Honorary Life Membership is granted to individuals who have rendered distinguished service to CHP Australia or the industry. These members are elected by the CHP Australia Board.
