CHP Australia welcomes positive action on ‘Australian made’ labelling concerns

24 September 2019 –

Consumer Healthcare Products Australia today welcomes the progress made by Minister Andrews and the Department of Industry, Innovation and Science to ensure that Australian-based manufacturers of therapeutic goods can claim ‘Australian made’ for their products.

Today’s update, detailing an interim regulatory change until necessary legislation can be passed, will provide our industry with the certainty required to continue its substantial investment in Australian manufacturing.

While acknowledging there is still significant work to be done, CHP Australia is optimistic that the implementation of necessary amendments to s255 of the Australia Consumer Law will, where possible, be expedited.

We thank Minister Andrews, and numerous other stakeholders, for engaging with CHP Australia on this important issue. We look forward to continuing to work cooperatively and productively with Federal and State Governments to resolve this matter.
