From Monday 3 June, the Australian Self Medication Industry (ASMI) will be known as Consumer Healthcare Products Australia (CHP Australia).
"In April, our members unanimously endorsed the change of our name and brand," explained Chairperson, Lindsay Forrest.
"The name Consumer Healthcare Products Australia better represents the industry in which our members operate. It also brings us in line with our international counterparts, CHP Canada and CHPA in America."
"Our focus will continue to be on ensuring that Australians have the information and products available to practice Self Care with confidence."
"A key component of greater Self Care is access to effective healthcare products to enhance health and well-being."
CEO, Dr Deon Schoombie said that there are several changes occurring at the industry body.
"We have been stepping up our advocacy efforts on behalf of the industry over the past few months and we'll continue to advocate for greater investment and focus on measures to improve health literacy and preventive health, grow the consumer healthcare products industry through manufacturing and export opportunities, and increase access to non-prescription medicines so that consumers are empowered to make greater choices for their own Self Care."
"CHP Australia is also gearing up for a renewed focus on International Self Care Day in Australia on 24 July 2019."
The name change follows the organisation's move to St Leonards last week. Over the next week, we'll be rolling out our new branding across all digital and social platforms.
